SECASA is a specialist sexual assault and family violence service.
We acknowledges the Bunurong/Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples, the Traditional Custodians and Owners of the lands where our programs operate. We pay our respects to their culture and their Elders past, present and future.
We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment that embraces all ages, backgrounds, cultures, sexualities, genders and abilities.
We also acknowledge the strength and resilience shown by survivors of sexual assault and family violence.

SECASA provides counselling and advocacy for individuals who have been impacted by Sexual Assault and Family Violence.
The predecessor of SECASA was established in 1977 at the Queen Victoria Hospital, and was the first sexual assault service to be funded in Victoria. Over time, SECASA has enhanced its service to provide an intersectional approach to support all members of the community who are affected by sexual assault and family violence. This includes support for men, children, people who identify as LGBTIQ+, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and survivors of institutional abuse.
SECASA became a service of Monash Health in the mid 1990’s and continues to maintain the highest standards of practise and trauma informed care. This has been achieved by working closely with other health providers through the Monash Health network and various community services.
Our logo storyCreating SECASA’s new logo was a journey filled with thought, care and heart.
At the centre of the design is the dandelion, a symbol that beautifully reflects who we are and what we stand for.
The dandelion represents healing and resilience. It speaks to emotional and spiritual wisdom, while its connection to the sun reflects warmth, strength and renewal.
Despite life’s challenges, the dandelion continues to grow and flourish. It also carries with it a sense of hope, dreams and a vision for brighter days ahead.
The colours of the SECASA logo were chosen with equal care:
Yellow brings optimism, care and hope.
Aqua reflects trust, peace and stability.
White represents clarity and truth.
Purple honours SECASA’s foundation of feminist, rights-advocacy frameworks, with a strong focus on empowerment and safety for all those who enter our service.
Together, these elements create more than a logo.
They form a symbol of support, strength and hope – a reflection of SECASA’s purpose.

We meet every person with empathy and kindness, recognising the strength it takes to seek support. Compassion shapes our trauma and violence informed care and underpins how we support, educate, and advocate for survivors.
We are committed to creating safe and welcoming spaces where every person feels respected, valued, and protected. Our approach is grounded in trust and empowerment, ensuring that individuals can engage with confidence and dignity. We uphold inclusive practices that recognise and honour the unique needs and experiences of each person, fostering an environment free from harm, discrimination, and judgement. .
We honour the dignity, autonomy, and lived experiences of every person. Respect guides our inclusive practice, recognising the complexity of individual identities and the importance of intersectionality. We value all voices and strive to create environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected.
We work across teams, sectors, and communities to provide holistic care and drive meaningful change. Innovation and strong community partnerships are central to our model and coordinated support. Together, we create responsive, evolving solutions through advocacy that meet the needs of those we support.
We believe in positive change. Hope fuels our advocacy, education, and prevention efforts, and underpins our commitment to walk alongside survivors as they move toward safety and connection. Through this journey, we help new possibilities emerge – grounded in dignity, strength, and a vision for a safer future.
